Wally Lavernier and Erin Haase from Fermilab’s Ecology Team will discuss the historical landscape of Illinois and the factors that led to the destruction of prairies for agriculture. They will also highlight Dr. Bob Betz’s pivotal role in launching prairie restoration efforts at Fermilab and the lasting significance of these restorations.

Saturday marks the annual Fermilab Natural Areas Seed Harvest from 10am-2pm. Please join us to help collect seeds from the Fermilab prairies. Meet at Ledermen Science Center Registration is required: Natural Areas Seed Harvest (20-September 21, 2025) · INDICO-FNAL (Indico) Lunch will be provided to all volunteering at this event.
