Picosa is a new Chicago-based mixed chamber ensemble (flute, clarinet, violin, cello, and piano). Noted for its signature symphonic sound and virtuosity, Picosa presents an eclectic variety of works from baroque to contemporary, and soloist to full chamber ensemble.

The ensemble’s unique approach to programming presents celebrated masterworks from across the centuries and around the globe. Picosa concerts are community gatherings, with lively conversations after every event. Picosa is also committed to nurturing rising young musicians through our Interludes Chamber Ensembles program, where student and amateur musicians play in pre-concert performances, and through our workshops, concerts, and residencies at local colleges. Additionally, Picosa seeks to be an arts collective, featuring cross-genre collaborations each season.

During their inaugural season (2014-2015) they performed 24 concerts and workshops throughout the Chicago area, including PianoForte, The Chicago Cultural Center, and a collaboration with Pulitzer Prize winning composer Shulamit Ran. Their Fermilab concert will include music of Haydn, Shulamit Ran, Patricia Morehead, Jonathon Kirk, Villa-Lobos, and Handel/Halvorsen.
